Yamaha OAI Teams Up With Southern California Mountains Foundation

Over the last weekend of April, around 50 Yamaha employees helped lead a team effort to clean up and preserve the U.S.F.S. (United States Forest Service) San Bernardino. The group got together to remove graffiti, pick up trash, tend to plants, replace directional signs, and install wildlife protection measures. Yamaha says the impact of the efforts could be noticed immediately.

This latest installment of the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative (Yamaha OAI) is the latest in a long line of such dating back to its inception in 2008. The effort has contributed over $6 million to 475 projects nationwide, always pushing to support responsible use and access to public lands that its outdoor enthusiast support base knows and loves. In addition to trail maintenance, Yamaha OAI also works on hunting areas, fishing spots, and more.

"The constant use of this area is fantastic as more people come to enjoy the natural spaces offered on the San Bernardino National Forest. However, that use often places a real burden on the land and it needs consistent care and attention to keep it safe and accessible for everyone,” said Linda Stamer, OHV and Restoration Partnership Director for SCMF. “We are grateful to Yamaha for its support which provides resources such as the Yamaha Outdoor Access Initiative grants, as well as bringing its peoplepower to work here onsite. Together we get so much important work done in a short amount of time, coming together in a community of stewardship to make a positive difference for this special place.”

Yamaha is encouraging interested parties (riding clubs, land stewardship associations, and public land managers) to apply for grants and to receive company-backed participation in these efforts.
